and so I fell. and I fell forever and so quickly at the same time, daydreaming whole novellas in the half a second it took me to fall, yet for one reason or another I never hit the ground. I landed in the arms of all those I had ever loved, of those who had slipped gently into my life and seemed to fit so perfectly. looking around, I realized that there was always someone there to catch me, one of those glorious souls with a story to tell, those beautiful folk who have made an impact in my life, and it occurred to me that in this crazy world none of us really ever hit the ground. we can fall, spinning through space like mad cosmic frisbees, but in the end there will always be someone to complete our grand finale. and we will spin wildly right into their arms

Sometimes i wonder whether i made the right choice pursuing geography. I find myself struggling to find interest in my notes, although i thoroughly understand the concepts and their socioecological applications.

Take my Natural Hazards mod for example - i skipped all lectures throughout the sem save for the first and last, read through only the most relevant notes for my term essay and annotated biblio, and studied only questions that i spotted for today’s final. Eventually spotted one question accurately but not the other, and had to haphazardly scramble up a few pages from the concepts i vaguely remembered using in my term assignment.

And then it hit me - what am i studying for? I feel sad when i think about the modules i completed last year and realize that i don’t recall the module content, probably because i never learned much to begin with. Memorising chunks of case studies and entire essay outlines makes for a decent final grade, but i gain nothing at the end of the day

Wish i could spend more time at home whipping up salads like...

Love is waking up to gramps’ incessant rapping on my door. Love is him knocking in intervals of 15minutes till i finally stumble out of bed. Love is grams’s sandwich in the morning, held together by salmon spread and cucumber, crusty sides neatly sliced off because she knows I don’t like it, although I’ve never told her. Love is her asking when I slept yesterday and nodding in approval when I said 2AM, “Good, you’re sleeping earlier! Take care of your health!” Love is her walking me to the door, her happy smile when I say I’ll be back for dinner Saturday night. Love is gramps driving me to school for my internship interview/ to study, him saying he doesn’t mind because he wants to get out of the house “for some fresh air”.
